We’ve all done it. We meet someone for the first time and judge the person based on our first impressions of the person. In many cases, the first impression isn’t necessarily an accurate picture of who the person really is. It seems like a lot of married couples started out with the wrong impression of each other. A person might lose out on a job because his potential employer had the wrong impression based on his interviewing skills.

However, there are times when we need to make light of the topic. Ron is a friend of mine and does a lot of the “handyman” stuff for me — replaces windows, changes the batteries in the smoke alarms, cleans out the cellar, etc. We have an on-going joke…whenever Ron rings the doorbell, I holler, “I don’t want any Avon. Go away!” That’s Ron’s signal to come on in.

The other morning I heard the doorbell. As I headed to the door I yelled my usual comment, but no Ron! I opened the door and saw a guy in a bright orange parka quickly walking away from the house. I yelled out to him, “Oh wait! Come back! I thought you were someone else!” He told me that he needed to read the gas meter, but if it was a bad time he would come back. I assured him it was fine for him to read it.

As I unlocked the cellar door and turned on the light, I warned the guy to watch out for dead animals and if he happened to see my husband, send him upstairs. The guy looked at me strangely and headed down to the dreary musty cellar. When he came back up I asked him if he saw any dead animals and he shook his head no. When I asked him if he saw my husband, his eyes widened and he quickly left. I spent the next few moments just laughing.

It was raining hard and as I was pulling out of my driveway to head to work, I saw the meter guy across the street. Thinking I should be friendly, I waved and smiled at him…causing him to stumble into a bush!

Now, I can only imagine what his first impression of me must be. Wacky woman! Scary lady! She actually locks her husband in the grungy cellar (I’m not even married)! Most of my friends and family think I’m pretty normal and a nice person–very different than the image I portrayed to the meter guy.

But it makes me think about this site. Have you met someone and you feel bad about the first impression you’ve made on him or her? Do you wish for a second chance so they can see the real you? Why not utilize www.IStillRememberYou.com and try to connect with the person? It can’t hurt.

Listen to your heart…

It’s hard to believe that we’re almost in mid-July! Where does the time go??? Trying to make connections with family and friends might be one of the reasons why summer flies by so quickly. There’s graduation celebrations, family reunions, weddings, class reunions, etc.

Class reunions. I’m sorry to admit it, but I’ve only attended one class reunion so far. I live in the town that I grew up in, stay in touch with friends, and honestly have had little interest in going to the class reunions. However, one my friends, Marie, recently attended hers and we talked about it.

Marie noticed that a lot of the “locals” didn’t attend. Yet, others made an effort to be there. Two people traveled by air, one person by train and the rest by personal vehicle. The out-of-towners were disappointed that the locals wouldn’t attend when all they had to do was show up–not travel for hours.

Marie and her classmates had fun looking through the old yearbooks. Little by little, because of existing friendships, they were able to note where most of their classmates are currently living, if they’re married, their jobs, etc. Out of a class of 150 people, nine have already passed away. Another nine or ten are seriously ill. That’s a wake up call!

There were easily twenty people whom no one had any information on. The postcards that were sent out regarding the class reunion were returned with “forwarding address unknown”. Marie said that she and her classmates were going to make a serious effort to find these twenty people and to see how they’re doing.

Marie asked how “I Still Remember You” works and I showed her the website. Hopefully in the near future she’ll begin posting searches. Wouldn’t it be awesome if she’s able to connect with a few of these missing classmates?

How about you? Who are you trying to connect with this summer? Is it a missing classmate from a class reunion? An acquaintance you’ve met at a wedding reception? A relative you’ve not seen in awhile? Let “I Still Remember You” help you with your search and make that connection.

Listen to your heart…

Well, at least I keep telling myself that! It amuses me that one day it can be in the 70’s with a cool gentle breeze and the next day it’s in the 40’s with a sprinkling of snow! The bumble bees are out in full force and I’m just hoping they’re not trying to make a nest in my bird feeder like they did last year. The birds are drawn to the purple silk plants hanging on the front porch. You’d think after a few times of dive bombing them, they would realize that the flowers are fake. And yesterday, I saw my first bat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I admit they are an intriguing species and I appreciate that they keep the bugs under control, I just don’t want to see them hanging out where I work, or worse yet, at my house!!!

One thing I truly appreciate about spring is that it offers a new beginning, a fresh start. Whether you’ve been a member for awhile, you recently became a member, or perhaps you’re just checking out this site, why not make spring a season of new beginnings? Start by posting just one contact and see what happens. Or go to the chrono-geographical line to see who people are searching for.

Is there a college friend you haven’t seen in a couple of years? A cousin that you grew up with? Someone you met while on vacation? Let us help you locate the person.

Best of luck with your searches.

Listen to your heart…

It’s exciting to see our ‘I Still Remember You’ family growing in numbers! Whether you’ve recently became a member, or perhaps you’ve been a member for awhile, we encourage you to utilize the site. You can check and see who other members are searching for, you can do a brief search, and you can read the profiles of new members—maybe you’ll recognize someone!

One of the best features about the site is being able to post a detailed contact. This will help you the most in trying to locate a childhood friend, a missing relative, an acquaintance, etc. The more contacts you post, and the more details provided for each contact, the better your chance of reconnecting with someone.

Haven’t posted a contact yet? It’s easy! Once you sign in, click on your account (upper right corner). Go to the toolbar and click on “contact”. It will then ask you for information: person’s name (even just first name), description of the person, where/when you last saw the person, a photo of the person if you have one, and a brief message for the person.

Once you click on the “submit” button at the end, a male or female icon will appear on the chrono-geographical timeline. If you indicated that you met the person on a moving vehicle (i.e. plane, boat), it will show an icon of that.

Many of our first-time visitors explore the chrono-geographical timeline. Just imagine how thrilling it would be if the person you’re searching for checks out the site, clicks on the icons for his/her location, and discovers you’re looking for them!!!

So, how about giving it a try? It’s simple, takes just a few minutes, and it could be the key of finding that person you’ve been trying to locate. If you have any questions regarding how to post a contact or anything else with the ‘I Still Remember You’ site, please let us know. Our goal is to help you become reconnected with those who are important to you. When that happens, we share in your excitement.

Listen to your heart…

Do you find yourself getting lost in thoughts of “what if”? Do you desire to be with someone?

If you answered “yes” to any of these, then what’s stopping you? Sometimes the other person doesn’t have a clue that you are interested in him/her. Weeks, months and years can go by and nothing comes of the relationship. However, if you take a chance on expressing interest in the person, the relationship might take off! And if nothing happens, at least you’ll ease the questions swarming around in your mind.

You’ve taken the first step by becoming a member of ‘I Still Remember You’. Have you posted your picture yet? People who have included a photo with their profile are much more likely to make connections, than those who haven’t. Have you used the “contact” function yet? Begin providing information for contacts. Maybe you’re looking for a childhood friend, an old boyfriend, a relative, or someone you just met on your commute to work.

We’re here to help you make those connections. Have a question? Post a comment and we’ll help you out.

So what are your “what if’s”? Is there someone you want to get in touch with? After weeks of very little sunshine, I’m looking forward to the warmer temperatures, more daylight, the grass turning green and trees budding. Spring seems to offer new hope, or perhaps a new start. I’m looking forward to having the guys do the “spring cleaning” of my pond so I can use the laptop outside rather than sitting here in my office with all the piles of papers, books, magazines, mail…you name it! I enjoy listening to the water as it cascades down the rocks and watching the frogs jump from the edge to the water lilies. I also enjoy just reflecting on life and setting new goals.

My father’s side of the family is from Sweden. I would really like to do a search and try to locate relatives. So one of my goals is to research the various last names in our family tree and then start searching.

How about you? Who are you searching for? When using this site, have you tried posting more than one contact? The more dates/locations that you can recall, the better your chance of locating someone here on “I Still Remember You”.

Let’s say for example, you’re looking for an old classmate. Your contacts might include…
•	September 5, 1981 – attended first grade together in Greeneville, CT
•	June 21, 1993 – graduated from Greeneville High School together
•	July 10, 1998 – went on the Class Reunion Cruise together to Vancouver, Canada

It’s exciting to hear the contacts that some of you have made! Some have found relatives, some have rekindled relationships, and others have made new friends on the site. We really want to get the word out regarding “I Still Remember You” because we believe that people should be able to reconnect with the people who mean so much to them. Please tell your family and friends about the site. Thanks!

Listen to your heart…

It’s exciting to see new members join our “I Still Remember You” site! We have members from all around the world.

Have you posted a “contact” yet? It’s easy to do. After you log in, click on the “My Account”. Then click on “Contact Search”. Type in as much information as you can regarding the person you’re searching for. The two key things that you need to be able to provide is a special day and a specific location. Once you complete the contact, it’s posted on the chrono-geographical search tool. If your contact actually took place on a moving vehicle (i.e. plane, bus) then an icon of the vehicle will appear on the search tool.

Recently I’ve read over some of the posted contacts. Some people are looking for lost relatives, some are looking for childhood friends, others are looking for recent contacts.

Who are you interested in reconnecting with? Someone you met at a party? The person you sat next to on a flight? An old classmate? A person you attended a conference with?

How about posting a contact this week? It might be the best thing you’ve done in awhile.

Listen to your heart…

It is possible to find someone on the internet even if you never knew their name.

Without a doubt the internet has revolutionized the way we search for information. Just take a few moments to think about how involved and complicated it used to be. Even just ten, twenty or thirty years ago, trying to reconnect with somebody you had lost touch with was a time consuming task involving numerous postal or personal inquiries and searches through directories and registers in different locations. The internet and the development of laptops and mobile phones has changed all that, we can now, almost without exception search for what we want, when we want and get results.

The internet is awash with search engines and social network sites that can search for names but how can you find someone on the internet without knowing their name? It sounds impossible doesn’t it? Would it surprise you to learn that there are many thousands of people the world over trying to get back in touch with someone whose name or full name they don’t know? Well, it shouldn’t, don’t we all have these people in our past? It could be somebody that you struck up a friendship with many years ago on a long journey or at a holiday resort and whose contact details you have lost. It could be somebody from a school or a sports team or theatre group whose nickname you remember. The reality is that people move on, they marry and change their names, their nicknames and pet-names change too as they grow older but this does not alter the fact that you still remember them and they still remember you.

Visit I Still Remember You. This is a network that aims to reconnect people with one another. It works differently from other search sites and tools and you can use I Still Remember You to find people without knowing all or part of their names. It’s really simple to use, all you need is a time and a place. Here’s the technical bit, it uses a chrono-geographic search tool and interactive map which will allow you to create contacts to find someone you are looking for. You’ll know too if anyone is looking for you.

There is no doubt that we remember the impact that certain people have had on our lives for the rest of our lives, but now and then the finer details get lost along the way. Finding someone without knowing their name is not as daunting a task as you might think. What are you waiting for? Visit I Still Remember You and reconnect today.
